Asja supports the projects of Fundación Poligrow, a foundation committed to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged communities in Colombia.
One of these places is Mapiripán: located at the threshold of the Amazon rainforest, it has long been geografically and economically isolated from the rest of the Country. Thanks to the projects of Fundación Poligrow, that promote education as a driver of economic and social development and the creation of new activities drawing on local resources, Mapiripán is now free from the shadow of its past.
The contribution of Asja supports:
- the advanced education of Andrea Lizeth Rivas, a promising student from Mapiripán who is currently finishing her studies in agricultural sciences, completely funded by Asja, at the prestigious EARTH University in Costa Rica. Once she will finally conclude her education, Lizeth will return home where she will use the expertise acquired to build a better future for her and the community it belongs to;
- a project for a tropical fruit processing plant, aiming at creating an alternative and diversified source of income for the community, by developing a local supply chain that includes the provision of raw materials, manpower and qualified services.
